Wilks Ranches held our Inaugural Spring Bull Sale on February 19th at the Sale Barn in Eastland, TX. The sale was a great success with buyers from all over the country attending in person, over the phone and online. Parker Freidrichs Marketing Consulting ran the sale, and McFarland Productions photographed the event. Steve Bonham was the voice of the sale, working as auctioneer, and the Wilks Ranches team worked in the back, pushing bulls and making sure that everything went smoothly.
The Spring Bull Sale is one of two annual sales that we host; a Production Sale in October and the Bull Sale in February. The Production Sale highlights both registered and commercial heifers, cows, and bulls. The Bull Sale highlights only registered bulls that are bred from some of our premier herd sires. We opened our sale facilities on Sunday at noon for potential buyers to come and view the bulls, then again at 7am on Monday, the day of the sale.
At 11am, everyone who attended the sale got to enjoy an excellent catered lunch by Red Chain Feeds. After lunch, the sale began. The total gross earnings ended up at $522,700 with 150 Angus bulls sold at an average of $4,051 per head, with the top bull grossing $8,700. We separated our bulls by their age, and then by Calving Ease and Growth, to make it easy for the buyers to find what they were looking for. Progeny from HA Cowboy Up, our top bull, and other herd sires were sold in this Spring Sale. The bulls were shipped both within Texas and out of state, as far as Oregon.
We cannot thank everyone enough for their help in making this sale possible. There were so many people who worked behind the scenes making everything seamless. This is a passion for all of us here at Wilks Ranches, and we hope that everyone who attended and bought bulls this year enjoyed their experience. We thank you and hope to see you in October for the Production Sale!
